Woro Ghana Applauds Decentralisation of Waste Management, Hails New Era for Local Enterprises
The Ghana Voice 13-06-2025Woro Ghana Limited (WGL) commends the government, under the leadership of H.E. President John Mahama, for its landmark decision to decentralise waste management services. This pivotal policy shift is a welcome development that promises to unlock significant opportunities for small and medium-scale Ghanaian enterprises, enabling them to contribute directly to the nation's sanitation goals.
For nearly two decades, the
sector has been dominated by a few large corporations, which have limited the
participation and growth of smaller, local players. The decentralisation of
waste management services will foster a more competitive and level playing
field, encouraging innovation and efficiency across the industry. This will
ultimately lead to more effective waste management services and cleaner
communities throughout Ghana.
"This policy is a
game-changer for local entrepreneurship," said Mr. Kingsley Germaine,
Chief Executive Officer of Woro Ghana Limited. "It empowers
community-focused companies like ours to partner directly with Metropolitan,
Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs). We have the local knowledge,
agility, and commitment to not only keep our communities clean but also to
stimulate economic growth by creating green jobs where they are needed most. We
are fully prepared to support the MMDAs in achieving our shared environmental
objectives."
Woro Ghana Limited,
alongside other local enterprises, stands ready to collaborate with the MMDAs
to enhance waste management outcomes and improve the quality of life for all
residents.
We urge all
stakeholders—including fellow waste management companies, community leaders,
residents, and government agencies—to embrace this initiative and work
collaboratively towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Ghana for
future generations.
Woro Ghana Limited is a multi-service small to medium-scale company incorporated in Ghana to provide solutions in the areas of Waste Management and environmental services, among others.
