The Ghana Voice 11-05-2026One of the most influential foreign business figures in Ghana, Tang Hong, has once again cemented his dominance within Ghana’s Chinese business community after securing another major re-election victory as President of the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies.
The high-profile re-election took place during a colourful and heavily attended ceremony on Saturday, May 9.
Members of the Association overwhelmingly renewed their confidence in the business magnate whose influence now stretches across hospitality, mining, manufacturing, trade, diplomacy and philanthropy in Ghana.
Widely known as the founder of the luxury Tang Palace Hotel and Chief Executive Officer of Caitec Group.
Tang Hong has for years remained the face of the Chinese business community in Ghana , serving not only as a businessman, but also as a bridge between Chinese investors, the Chinese Embassy, Ghanaian authorities and local enterprises.
Industry players and observers say his latest re-election signals continuity, stability and growing confidence in Chinese-Ghanaian business relations.
It comes at a time when Chinese investments continue to expand rapidly across key sectors of Ghana’s economy including agriculture, fisheries, construction, hospitality, mining and manufacturing.
Beyond boardrooms and billion-dollar business interests, Tang Hong has also built a reputation as a strong advocate for humanitarian support and responsible business conduct.
Under his leadership, the Association has spearheaded major donations to institutions such as the Ghana Police Service and mobilised relief support for displaced persons affected by regional conflicts and humanitarian crises.
As Chairman of the Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tang Hong has consistently encouraged Chinese businesses operating in Ghana to comply with local laws while promoting deeper collaboration with Ghanaian-owned businesses.
With estimates suggesting that nearly 60,000 Chinese nationals currently live and work in Ghana, Tang Hong’s leadership is increasingly being viewed as extending beyond commerce into diplomacy, cultural integration and community representation.
His re-election also ushers in a renewed executive structure made up of powerful Chinese business leaders and industry associations operating in Ghana.
Among the notable names elected were Xu Ningquan of Sentuo Group as Executive President and Zhou Senlin as Honorary President.
The new leadership also includes representatives from major business bodies such as the Ghana China Mining Association, Ghana China Fisheries Association, Ghana Chinese Media, several regional Chinese chambers of commerce and Confucius Institutes affiliated with leading Ghanaian universities.
Observers say Tang Hong’s latest victory is more than just another election win ,it represents the continuation of a business legacy that has significantly shaped Chinese-Ghanaian economic relations over the years.
