COURT SEIZES CHEDDAR'S LUXURY HOTEL! Police Cleared to Help UK Firm Take Over No. 1 Oxford Street Over Alleged Debt

One of Ghana's most famous and iconic luxury properties, the No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel in Osu, is set to change hands after a High Court ordered that a UK company be allowed to take control of the building over an alleged unpaid debt.

The Commercial Division of the High Court has authorised UK-based Cola Holdings Limited and its appointed Receiver in Ghana, Nii Amanor Dodoo, to take possession of the hotel. The court also directed that the police provide assistance if there is any resistance during the takeover.

The hotel is linked to Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited, a company where businessman and New Force leader Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, serves as a director.

Court documents indicate that Cola Holdings had been unable to gain peaceful access to the property despite its legal rights. The company therefore sought the court's intervention.

Cheddar and Kensington Residential Partners opposed the application, asking the court to reject it. However, Justice Samuel Faraday Johnson dismissed their objections and ruled in favour of Cola Holdings.

The ruling clears the way for the UK company to take control of the landmark white building located near Dankwa Circle in Osu as part of efforts to recover the alleged debt.

The court's decision marks another dramatic chapter in the legal battle over one of Accra's most iconic luxury developments.
