Labour Ministry Partners Platinum Impact Ltd. to Enhance Work Abroad Initiative
The Ghana Voice 17-06-2025The Ministry of
Labour, Jobs and Employment has taken a bold step to strengthen Ghana’s labour
export efforts through a strategic partnership with Platinum Impact Limited, a
renowned Ghanaian-owned recruitment agency.
This collaboration was
cemented at a brief but significant signing ceremony held at the Ministry in
Accra, where both parties formalised their commitment by signing a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating the government’s flagship Work
Abroad initiative.
The initiative,
officially launched in March 2025, is designed to facilitate the legal
migration of Ghanaian skilled workers and artisans to countries with high
demand for labour, while promoting safe and secure migration processes. Key
sectors targeted include hospitality, transportation, agriculture, and
construction.
Speaking at the ceremony,
Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo,
underscored the importance of ethical recruitment practices in the fight
against irregular migration.
“My expectation is that
you do what is right and required in the best interest of the people of Ghana,”
the Minister charged. “Let’s make sure we secure appropriate jobs in places
where the rights of our people are respected. Use your expertise in locating
decent jobs to support this initiative.”
The partnership empowers
Platinum Impact Ltd. to scout, process, and place Ghanaian job seekers in
legally contracted employment abroad. With a track record dating back to 2004,
the company is known for its strict compliance with labour standards and commitment
to client welfare.
CEO of Platinum Impact
Limited, Mr. Desmond Eric Acquah, reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to
contribute meaningfully to the national agenda on labour migration.
“Our operations are
grounded in respect for labour laws and the technical demands of today’s
international job market. We’re determined to work with the government to bring
sanity into the recruitment sector and ensure this programme meets its
objectives,” he stated.
Mr. Acquah also
highlighted Platinum Impact’s competitive edge, noting that the company has
consistently delivered secure and rewarding job placements through innovation
and a client-first approach.
As part of the Work
Abroad programme, selected workers will undergo rigorous pre-departure
training covering their rights, cultural integration, and professional skill
enhancement, preparing them to thrive and compete globally.
To ensure transparency,
the Ministry revealed that an online portal will be launched to facilitate
applicant screening. Additionally, all participating recruitment firms and
foreign employers must sign binding agreements with the
Ghanaian government and destination countries to protect migrant workers.
This public-private
partnership signals a renewed commitment by the Ministry to create lawful and
dignified pathways to employment abroad for Ghanaians while curbing the rising
tide of unsafe and unregulated migration.
