FOUR GHANAIANS FACE EXTRADITION REQUEST BY UNITED STATES OVER ALLEGED OFFENSES
The Ghana Voice 18-06-2025The Ministry of the Interior has initiated legal processes for the arrest of four Ghanaian nationals following a formal extradition request by the United States government.
According to a directive signed by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and addressed to the Magistrate of the District Court in Accra, the individuals — Isaac Oduro Boateng, Inusah Ahmed, Derrick Van Yeboah, and Patrick Kwame Asare — are wanted in connection with unspecified offenses in the United States.
The request, made through the U.S. diplomatic mission and conveyed by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, was processed under the authority of the Extradition Act, 1960 (Act 22).
The letter states that a requisition for their apprehension has been formally submitted, and the said individuals are currently suspected to be residing in Ghana.
“In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Interior by Section 7(1) of the Extradition Act, 1960 (Act 22),” the Minister ordered the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of the four individuals, noting that the order should serve as sufficient legal basis for the District Court’s further action.
The Interior Ministry’s move marks a key step in Ghana’s compliance with international legal obligations under bilateral treaties and global justice cooperation frameworks.
Details regarding the specific allegations or offenses prompting the U.S. extradition request have not yet been disclosed.
