Police Arrest Two More Suspects in Adabraka Jewellery Shop Robbery, Recover Arms and Ammunition
Lawrence 10-01-2026The Ghana Police Service has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the recent armed robbery of a jewellery shop at Adabraka, following an intelligence-led operation that led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activity.
The arrests were carried out by the Police through the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police. The suspects, identified as Hamza Agerego, also known as Nene Bawku or Lambert, and Alhassan Elliasu, popularly called Arab Man, were picked up on January 7, 2026, from their hideouts at Ashaiman.
According to the Police, Hamza Agerego was initially arrested and detained at the Katamanso District Police Headquarters in connection with the Adabraka robbery. Subsequent intelligence gathered during investigations led officers to Ashaiman, where a targeted operation resulted in the arrest of Alhassan Elliasu at his hideout.
A search conducted at the premises led to the recovery of a cache of arms and related items, including two pump-action guns, forty-three (43) rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two hundred and thirty-nine (239) BB cartridges, and four bulletproof vests. Other items retrieved include a black boot, a black face mask, two cutlasses, two Samsung mobile phones, one iPhone 13, a wristwatch, and a CCTV monitor.
Police say the items are being examined as part of ongoing investigations into the robbery and possible links to other criminal activities.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the suspects will be arraigned before court to face the full rigours of the law.
The Police have reiterated their commitment to combating armed robbery and urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing timely and credible information to help maintain public safety.
