Police Arrest ‘Sir Obama Pokuase’ and Two Others Over Illegal Arms, Threats, and Fake News
The Ghana Voice 13-08-2025The Ghana Police Service has arrested Mr. Daniel Adomako, popularly known on social media as “Sir Obama Pokuase,” in a joint operation with other security agencies.
According to a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, the arrest forms part of ongoing intelligence-led operations targeting networks engaged in the illegal possession, display, and circulation of sophisticated weapons.
Police say Mr. Adomako is assisting investigations into images and videos he allegedly shared on social media showing individuals openly brandishing illegally acquired firearms. These operations, ongoing for several weeks, have already led to the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal arms and ammunition.
In a related development, three other individuals — Prince Ofori, Yayra Abiwu, and Emmanuel Kwayke — are also in custody. They are being investigated for issuing threats of death and publishing false news linked to the recent helicopter crash incident.
The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the public by dismantling criminal networks and curbing the proliferation of illegal arms. Authorities also urged citizens to provide credible information to aid ongoing operations, assuring the public that all investigations will be conducted in strict adherence to due process.
The campaign, branded with the slogan “Fundraising For NPP TikTokers Being Victimized by the Mahama Administration” and hashtags #FreeFanteComedy and #FreeAY, claims the individuals are being unfairly targeted. The promotional message reads: “Ghana rise up! Our compatriots are jailed for no crime.”
However, the initiative has drawn mixed reactions online, with many social media users questioning the rationale and purpose of soliciting funds for persons facing serious allegations involving illegal arms and threats.
