Majority MPs Representing The 16 Regions & Behind Ayawaso East Nullification Call Unmasked

The Ghana Voice 09-02-2026

Sixteen Members of Parliament from the Majority Caucus have been identified as part of the group that backed the controversial call for the nullification of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.

The MPs, who serve as regional caucus chairpersons within Parliament, were part of the internal Majority endorsement of a position publicly articulated by Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga. Until now, the identities of those who supported the stance had not been widely known, but documentation circulating within party and parliamentary circles has revealed the names of lawmakers who aligned with the call.

The unveiling of the list has added a new layer to the unfolding political drama surrounding the disputed primaries, which have been marred by allegations of vote buying and inducement.

The MPs Linked to the Majority Position

The MPs whose names have surfaced as supporters of the Majority Leader’s position include:

Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda – Ahafo Region

Hon. Mohammed Bawah Braimah – Ashanti Region

Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah – Bono Region

Hon. Queenstar Pokuah Sawyer – Central Region

Hon. Joseph Appiah Boateng – Eastern Region

Hon. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije – Greater Accra Region

Hon. Bandim Abednego Azumah – North East Region

Hon. Alhassan Umar – Northern Region

Hon. John Bless Oti – Oti Region

Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey – Savannah Region

Hon. James Agalga – Upper East Region

Hon. Sebastian Ngmenenso Sandaare – Upper West Region

Hon. Oscar Ofori Larbi – Western North Region

Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah – Western Region

Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah – Volta Region

Hon. Dominic Napare – Bono East Region

Their endorsement of the Majority position signals that concerns about the credibility of the Ayawaso East primaries are not limited to isolated voices but cut across regional caucus leadership within Parliament.

Political Fallout Deepens

The revelation comes at a sensitive moment for the governing party, which has already constituted a committee to investigate the allegations surrounding the primaries. The internal probe has itself undergone adjustments after Hon. Mahama Ayariga stepped down from the investigative committee, with former MP and Minister, Hon. Inusah Fuseini, stepping in as replacement to maintain the neutrality of the process.

Meanwhile, the controversy has extended beyond party structures, with the Office of the Special Prosecutor launching investigations into alleged vote buying, vote selling and potential sources of funding linked to the suspected infractions.

Growing Stakes for Party Unity

Observers say the exposure of the MPs backing the nullification call may deepen internal debate within the party, especially as stakeholders weigh the balance between protecting internal democratic processes and preserving party cohesion ahead of the impending by-election.

The NDC leadership has maintained that it remains committed to transparency and integrity in its internal electoral processes while urging calm among party members as investigations continue.

The Ayawaso East primaries, initially intended to select a parliamentary candidate, have now evolved into a major test of internal accountability and political discipline within the governing party.
