The Ghana Voice 19-03-2026

President John Dramani Mahama has inspected the 80-kilometre Jinijini–Sampa Road project in the Berekum West District as part of his nationwide “Resetting Ghana Tour,” reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and citizen engagement.

The visit formed a key component of the President’s strategy to ensure efficient execution of critical projects while maintaining direct interaction with communities across the country.

During the inspection, President Mahama met with traditional authorities—including chiefs, queen mothers, and community leaders—as well as residents, to assess progress on the road and gather firsthand feedback on its socio-economic impact.

He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated his government’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.

Touching on the state of the economy, the President noted that Ghana is showing signs of stabilisation, citing a decline in inflation and a strengthening cedi against major international currencies.

He stressed that rebuilding investor confidence and attracting foreign direct investment remain crucial to sustaining growth and improving living standards.

On infrastructure, President Mahama underscored the importance of quality road networks in facilitating trade, enhancing mobility, and accelerating regional development.

He assured residents that the Jinijini–Sampa Road—long plagued by delays and challenges—will be completed to full asphalt standards by the end of 2027.

The President also highlighted key flagship initiatives under his administration, including the Big Push, Mahama Cares, Nkoko Nkitinkiti, and the 24-hour market programme, all aimed at boosting economic activity and creating jobs nationwide.

He referenced the recent sod-cutting for a 24-hour market project in the region as part of efforts to support local commerce and expand opportunities for traders.

Concluding his address, President Mahama encouraged citizens to actively participate in an upcoming stakeholder engagement in Sunyani, emphasising the importance of public input in shaping responsive policies and advancing national development.
