Ghanaian Tomato Traders Caught in Terrorist Attack in Burkina Faso
The Ghana Voice 15-02-2026The Government of Ghana has confirmed receiving distressing reports of a terrorist attack involving a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders in Burkina Faso.
According to an official statement, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso that has witnessed periodic security threats in recent years. The attack reportedly targeted the truck carrying traders believed to be travelling for commercial activities.
The Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, disclosed that Ghanaian authorities are actively engaging their counterparts in Burkina Faso to ascertain the full details of the incident.
He noted that the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently working closely with Burkinabe officials and is preparing to visit the attack site to gather further information and assist in identifying any Ghanaian nationals who may have been affected.
Government officials have assured the public that efforts are underway to obtain accurate information regarding casualties, survivors, and the overall circumstances surrounding the attack. Authorities say additional updates will be communicated as investigations and diplomatic engagements progress.
