Ghana Mourns Legendary Highlife Musician Daddy Lumba

  •  Ghana has been plunged into mourning following the death of one of its most celebrated music legends, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. The iconic highlife musician passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.

In a statement issued by the Fosu family and signed by their legal counsel, Fati Ali Yallah, Esq. of Baba Jamal & Associates, the family expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the beloved musical icon.

“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives,” the statement read. “His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience.”

With a career spanning decades, Daddy Lumba is widely regarded as a pioneer of modern Ghanaian highlife music. His timeless hits and charismatic stage presence earned him legions of loyal fans both in Ghana and across the diaspora.
