BREAKING: Ghana Air Force Helicopter Crashes in Adansi — All Onboard Feared Dead, Defence Minister Allegedly Among Victims

The Ghana Voice 06-08-2025

A Ghana Air Force helicopter has crashed in a remote area of Adansi, claiming the lives of all eight people onboard. Tragically, all victims were burnt beyond recognition, according to eyewitnesses and first responders at the scene.

The aircraft, identified as the GAF Z9 helicopter, reportedly took off from Accra at 09:12am en route to Obuasi before vanishing from radar. The Ghana Armed Forces have since confirmed the aircraft went missing mid-flight, with 3 crew members and 5 passengers onboard.

While the Ghana Armed Forces have not officially confirmed the identities of those onboard, multiple credible sources have indicated that Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, may have been among the passengers.

In an official press release earlier today (Wednesday), Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, who serves as Acting Director General of Public Relations, confirmed the helicopter was missing and that efforts were underway to re-establish contact. That statement was issued before reports of the crash surfaced from local residents in Adansi.

If confirmed, the death of a sitting Minister of Defence in such circumstances would mark a somber moment in Ghana’s political and military history.

The presidency and government are yet to issue an official statement.

TheGhanaVoice.com is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as further information becomes available.
