“GH¢14bn Roads Blitz! Big Push to Fix Ghana’s Highways”

President Mahama has announced a GH¢14 billion roads programme to tackle Ghana’s deteriorating road infrastructure.

The initiative, dubbed the “Big Push for Roads,” will prioritize completion of stalled projects such as the Ofanko and Sawambu highways.

Mr. Mahama said revenue from oil and gold exports will partly finance the program.

“Every region will feel the impact of this roads push. Roads open up economies, reduce transport costs, and save lives,” he stated.

Road contractors have welcomed the announcement but urged government to clear arrears to restore confidence in the sector.
