Paul Adom-Otchere Granted Bail After OSP Accepts Revised Conditions — Jospong Group Steps In as Surety

The Ghana Voice 01-08-2025

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, has finally secured his release after days in custody, following the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) decision to accept revised bail terms proposed by his legal team.

The OSP had initially demanded that Adom-Otchere present two landed properties registered in his name as a condition for bail — a requirement he was unable to meet, having disclosed to investigators that he owns no landed property in Ghana. The inability to satisfy this condition had kept him in OSP custody since his formal charge on July 31, 2025.

However, in a significant development, the Jospong Group of Companies has stepped in to act as surety, providing a revised bail arrangement that meets the legal objectives of the original terms.

Though the full details of the revised package have not been disclosed, sources confirm that the new arrangement offers sufficient guarantees to satisfy the court’s interest in ensuring Mr. Adom-Otchere remains within reach of the investigative process.

The OSP has accepted the new terms and processed his release accordingly.

Adom-Otchere is under investigation in connection with a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm linked to the owner of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The probe is focused on alleged procurement breaches, including reports that the contract was sole-sourced to a company other than the one approved by the GACL Board.

Two other individuals — Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, a senior executive at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems — have also been charged in the matter. Both were earlier granted bail after satisfying the original conditions.
