"Jaman South MCE Fires Back: GHS 52K Funeral Claim Is a Lie!"

The Ghana Voice 05-08-2025

The office of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jaman South, Hon. Siata Watara, has strongly refuted what it describes as “baseless and malicious” allegations circulating on social media, accusing her of spending GHS 52,000 of public funds on funeral donations.

In a fiery press release issued on Tuesday, Hon. Watara’s office slammed the claims made by one Adinkra Kusi, alleged to be a research assistant to the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Kwadwo Damoah. The MCE’s office called the allegations “false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish her hard-earned reputation.”

The statement emphasized that there is “no record whatsoever” within the Assembly’s official books to support the claim, and assured the public that all financial activities of the Assembly remain within the bounds of public procurement laws, oversight mechanisms, and routine audits.

“This is clearly a coordinated propaganda campaign from elements within the local NPP machinery, led by the current MP and his inner circle, to derail the growing popularity and development record of Hon. Siata Watara,” the statement alleged.

Despite the political jabs, the MCE says she remains unfazed and fully committed to her mandate—including infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and community welfare.

“We urge the good people of Jaman South and the general public to disregard these false claims and to continue supporting the development agenda under the leadership of Hon. Siata Watara,” the statement urged.

The office has also served notice that it will not hesitate to seek legal action if defamatory publications persist.

This development adds to growing political tensions in Jaman South as party loyalists and constituents closely watch the unfolding power dynamics between the MCE and MP.
